| Start of annual outage 2006 in Krško NPP |
 |
On saturday 8.4.2006 at 1.05 the Krško nulcear power plant was disconnected from the grid 18 months after the last outage. |
 |
Krško NPP finished 21st fuel-cycle and has started annual outage that will go on for 32 days (anticipated until 10 May).
During the outage there will be approximately 30 modifications among which the major are:
- replacement of both low pressure turbines (as a result of their better performance the capacity of the plant will increase),
- four preheaters of steamers' feed-water,
- rails of portable lattice with service water,
- extension and renewal of processing information system and
- continuation of replacement of analogue radiation monitoring system.
Due to longer operational cycle and to preserve the planned outage duration the quality of works performed is of utmost importance. This will assure stable and safe operation in the next (22nd) fuel-cycle until October 2007.
Transition to 18 months fuel-cycle (previously 12), quality maintenance and operational control, appropriate technological upgrades for a longer period , and favourable weather conditions have contributed to an annual electric energy production of 5,6 TWhe, the plant's lifetime record.
